Haud procul hinc saxô incolitur fundata vetustô
Urbis Agyllinae sedes: ubi Lydia quondam
Gens, bellô praelara iugis insedit Etruseis.
Dionys. Halicarn. l. 3. Ε᾿πὶ την` Καιρητανῶν πόλιν ἦγε την` δύναμιν, ἣ προ τερον μὲν Α῎γυλλα εναλεῖτο, Πελασγῶν αὐ την` κατοικούντων. Strabo l. 5. Α῎γυλλα ἐλογιζετο τὸ ωρότερον ἡ νυν̑ Καῖρε, καὶ λέγε ται Πελασγῶν κτίσμα τῶ εν Θετταλίας ἀφιγμένων. Divitem fuisse civitatem innuit Lycophron in Cassandra, ubi Α᾿γύλλης memorat πολυῤῤην´ους νάπας, i. e. pecorosus Agyllae saltus. Quin et Liv. l. 1. opulentum oppid. expresle vocat. Unde Dionys.
